Chris Guillebeau is a famous entrepreneur, an author of many books such as $100 Start-up, The Happiness of Pursuit, and the latest book Born for This: How to find the work you’re meant to do.
Marie Forleo and Chris Guillebeau discussed about how to find the most fulfilling work in this world, how to enjoy that work and how to get more experiences in your professional’s work.

First, he shared something about everyone in this world when he/she is doing his job, should think like an entrepreneur whether or not they work in corporation or small company, by thinking like an entrepreneur, you’re more aware of what you’re doing, you’re self-employed even you’re employed, take responsibility for your job and work the hardest.

He mentioned about JOY, MONEY & FLOW concept that most successful people who are fulfilled in their job have, those 3 elements that every successful people with the most rewarding job has.

✅Joy is something to do with whether or not you enjoy what you’re doing, are you happy with your work while doing.
✅Money which means the career that you choose has to financially stable, if what you’re doing isn’t get paid is just called “hobby”, so the work that you’re doing needs to be paid to support your life and family.
✅Flow is something to do with what you’re doing, when you do something, you’re immersed into it and time just kind of flew by and doing what you’re good at, forgetting about everything else around you.

By having these 3 elements, you will know you find the work which is suitable for you in the future, when you find a new job, look for 3 factors and of course, asking yourself: “Do I enjoy this job? Does the work that I am doing bring me money? Am I good at the job I am doing? “Sometimes there are just 2, or even 1 factor emerged in your job, just because life is short, why don’t just trying to find the job that is amazing and rewarding?
Second, during your professional’s life, Chris shared that expanding your options and then eliminating them. In this case, he gave advice to those who are just starting out, just try a bunch of different stuff to have a lot of different experiences, and then when you become more experienced and successful, you can eliminate your options.

When you first start out, just try to have different types of jobs, work you’re hardest and then see over a period of time, see what is convergent during your career, and then you can focus on the job you feel deeply connected to. Just allow yourself to have the courage to experiment and figure out by yourself. Learn from your mistakes and grow from it.

Finally, these days a lot of people think about this notion of never give up, they would say that you should pick one thing, you should pick your niche, you have to be focused and never give up at what you’re doing, but here is the thing: No one is going to repeat the same behavior and keep going when they know the result isn’t any better. For example, you can’t keep continuing your job if your work is still suck, and it doesn’t bring you joy even though you tried so hard many times.

So when do you know when to give up and when to persevere? By asking these 2 questions: “Is it working and Am I happy?” you will figure out when to quit or keep going. Of course, if the answer is no, then let it go. If having 1 or 2, so something needs to tweak, something needs to change.
Bottom line: Just trying a bunch of different things and be realistic about what you plan to your career. Finding the joy in what you do and as long as you love what you’re doing, and has to be financially stable, then just go for it.
